Wallet ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have. By using Wallet, you agree to the practices described below.

1. Data We Collect

Account Information

  • Email address
  • Display name
  • Preferred language

Receipt Data

  • Receipt images (stored encrypted on our servers)
  • Extracted items, prices, stores, and dates
  • OCR confidence scores

Shopping Data

  • Shopping lists
  • Barcode scans
  • Purchase patterns

Financial Data

  • Budgets and income entries
  • Recurring expenses
  • Payment method reward rules

We never store your credit or debit card numbers.

Location Data

Location data is collected only when you opt in. It is used to show nearby store deals and calculate distances. We never track your location in the background.

Other Data

  • Notification preferences and consent records
  • Subscription and billing status (managed by Apple/Google — we don't process payments directly)

2. How We Use Your Data

  • To provide and improve app features (analytics, deal matching, price tracking)
  • To sync data across your devices and household members you've invited
  • To send notifications you've opted into (deal alerts, budget warnings)

We do NOT sell your data to third parties.
We do NOT use your data for advertising.

3. Receipt Image Processing

OCR (optical character recognition) runs entirely on your device using Google ML Kit. Receipt images are uploaded to our servers only for storage and sync purposes — they are not sent to third-party OCR services.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate Wallet:

  • WorkOS — authentication
  • Cloudflare — hosting, storage, and database
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging — push notifications
  • Apple App Store / Google Play — subscription billing
  • Open Food Facts — public barcode database (no personal data is sent)

5. Data Retention

Your data is retained while your account is active. You can request full deletion of your data at any time. See our Data Deletion page for instructions.

6. Household Data

When you share receipts or lists with a household, other members can see that shared data. You control visibility (private vs. shared) per receipt. Only data you explicitly share is visible to household members.

7. Children's Privacy

Wallet is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes via in-app notification or email.
